11 Must-Pack Items For Your Destination Wedding

Planning a wedding is no small feat, but planning a destination wedding can take the challenge to a whole new level. With all of the details that come with traveling for your big day, it’s important to make sure you don’t forget anything!

To help make sure you have everything you need for your destination wedding, here are 11 must-pack items that will make your special day perfect. From packing tips and tricks to what essential items should be included in your suitcase, this list will ensure nothing gets left behind when traveling to say “I do” abroad.

1. Wedding dress/suit:

The most important item on any wedding packing list. Whether you’re opting for a traditional gown or a more casual look, your wedding attire should be carefully packed in the garment bag and placed at the top of the suitcase to avoid any wrinkling or crushing.

Keep your dress or suit free of wrinkles by packing tissue paper between layers, and consider bringing a steam iron to touch up any minor creases. You’ll want to make sure to pack your wedding dress in a carry-on. That way, even if there is an inconvenience with your plane’s luggage—you can still move forward with your wedding!

2. Shoes:

For the bridal party, shoes are just as important as an outfit! Make sure you pack your shoes in their own bag—placing them at the bottom of your suitcase or separating them with clothing items—so they don’t get scuffed or dirty.

Packing tip: Stuff your shoes with tissue paper to help keep their shape and prevent any unexpected smudging!

3. Jewelry/accessories:

Don’t forget the all-important jewelry and accessories that will finish off your wedding look! To ensure your jewelry doesn’t get damaged in transit, place each item into its own compartment within a pouch or jewelry box.

For larger items such as hair accessories and veils—pack them in the same garment bag that you use for your dress so they don’t get lost in the shuffle!

4. Hair products:

Bring all the necessary styling products and tools to ensure your hair looks perfect for your big day. Pack each product in its own container and store them in sealable plastic bags with all of the other necessary beauty items, such as makeup and facial cleansing wipes.

5. Emergency kit:

All brides need a “just-in-case” kit for their big day. Pack a small bag with items like extra bobby pins, band-aids, nail polish remover, safety pins, and any other item you may need throughout the wedding day.

6. Wedding décor:

To make sure your reception looks perfect on the big day—pack all of your decorations in an organized manner. Use bubble wrap and tissue paper when packing fragile items to ensure they make it to the destination safely, and try not to overpack!

7. Survival kit:

For any long-distance travel, a survival kit should be packed with all of the necessary items you may need during your journey. Pack things such as snacks, an extra charger for your phone, water bottles, and a first-aid kit.

8. Travel documents:

To make sure you don’t forget any important paperwork—pack all of your travel documents in one place. Include items such as passports, visas, driver’s licenses/ID cards, and certificates.

9. Prescriptions:

Make sure to keep all of your necessary medications with you in your carry-on luggage and have enough for any unexpected delays or changes in flight schedules. It’s also a good idea to bring extra copies of prescriptions, just in case anything gets lost or misplaced during the trip!

10. Gifts:

It’s always nice to bring gifts for your wedding party and guests! Make sure to pack any presents that you plan on giving out in advance, so they don’t get lost in the shuffle.

11. Cash/Credit Cards:

Finally, don’t forget to bring some cash or credit cards with you for any unexpected expenses that may come up during your wedding trip. It’s always better to be safe than sorry!

Packing for your destination wedding doesn’t have to be stressful. Just make sure to pack the 11 essential items listed above, and you’ll be good to go! Having a few days before the wedding day will also give you enough time to unpack and adjust your wardrobe as needed. Bon, voyage!

Happy wedding planning!
